Beginning with 14 committed players in 2009 (3d Lacrosse’s first year of operation), we have been dedicated to matching motivated players with appropriate college experiences from both an academic and athletic perspective. Player advocacy continues to be a primary company goal and most players will find a lacrosse home during their search, resulting in a placement that combines their athletic abilities with their academic interests and achievements.

James joined 3d Lacrosse as a Manager with 3d Georgia working in the greater Atlanta area in June, 2018. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 2018, earning a Bachelor of Science with a major in community entrepreneurship and a double minor in coaching and sports.

James was a close defender on the Catamounts Division I men’s lacrosse team for four seasons, leading the team as a captain during his junior and senior years. He started all but two of 62 games during the course of his career. He set the UVM career record for caused turnovers with 69 and finished sixth all-time in ground balls with 155.

As a senior in 2018, James helped the Catamounts to their best season in program history. The Catamounts finished the spring with the eighth best scoring defense in the nation. Vermont was voted into every major poll every week of the season and was ranked in the top 20 for eight consecutive weeks. James and his classmates finished with 32 wins in their career, the most of any to come through the program.

At the season’s end, James was honored by UVM Athletics as the Jeff Stone Memorial Award winner, recognizing him for exceptional contributions to community service and leadership as a senior. James also represented the men’s lacrosse team through his participation in the school’s student-advisory committee for four years.

Prior to Vermont, James attended The Governor’s Academy in Newbury, Massachusetts, where he was a standout multi-sport athlete. James was a member of the very first 3d New England travel team and, since heading to UVM, has been working with the Boston-based 3d New England staff during the summer.

In August 2020, James became the Director of 3d Georgia.

Dave Closterman

Coach David Closterman is from Doylestown PA. He grew up playing lacrosse in the Philadelphia area. Coach Closterman went on to play 4 years at the Academy of the New Church and then on to the University of Vermont where he was a 5-year starting attackman and 2-year captain.

During his career as a catamount, he helped lead the program to back-to-back American East championships, including the programs first. David collected numerous accolades throughout his time at Vermont playing in the America East; including First Team All-Conference (2022 & 2023), All-New England First Team (2021), America East Rookie of the Year & All-Rookie Team (2019), and Second Team All-Conference (2019). Coach Closterman also left his mark on the Vermont record books finishing his career at 2nd all time in assists, 4th all time in points, 8th all time in goals, and being the first player in program history to achieve 100 goals and 100 assists.

Coach Closterman joined the 3d Georgia staff in June of 2023 as a full-time manager and in May of 2025 he was promoted to Associate Director of 3d GA. Coach Closterman is going into his 3rd season as the offensive coordinator at Milton High School.

Tracy Morgan

Tracy Morgan comes to 3d Lacrosse Georgia from Southern Zone where she currently holds the position of HS Director.  She joined SoZo as a speed and agility consultant for all high school teams in the summer of 2018 and took on coaching MS and HS teams in 2018.  In 2021 Tracy added the role of High School Director to her SoZo resume and she began mentoring and managing coaches and programs, and assisted in recruiting.

Tracy began coaching lacrosse in 2016 when her daughters took on the sport.  She served as a long time coach and Commissioner of the Pope Junior program in Marietta GA. Tracy is USA Lacrosse Level 3 certified, currently serves as the Head Coach of Girls Lacrosse at Fellowship Christian School, and has her own business training middle school and high school players looking to perform at elite levels.

Tracy Morgan is a lifelong coach of athletic performance across a variety of sports and levels.  Her career began in College sports At San Diego State, UCSD and The University of Washington where she worked as a strength coach largely with Football and Olympic Sports.  Her NFL combine training for graduating players looking to join the NFL garnered attention from IMG where she was hired as the Assistant Director of Performance. There she served athletes of all ages and all sports, and was at the forefront of the movement to address performance holistically and systematically. It was there that Tracy gained valuable experience working with professional athletes in football, baseball and tennis and established her love for athletic development by working with younger athletes. After leaving IMG, Tracy opened her own training and consulting business and that’s where her focus has been for more than 20 years.    She has worked with teams and organizations that include Nike, the Cleveland Indians, Jim Kelly Enterprises, Cybex and Physiotherapy Associates.  Her main coaching focus since 2010 has been on the sport of lacrosse and she currently works with more than 100 players in the Atlanta area.  Tracy credits her longevity and success in athletics to her commitment to coaching as a never ending pursuit of improved performance in her role as a leader.

Sam Hixon-Milks

Sam is a native of Springboro, Ohio where he played lacrosse and ice hockey in high school and was a senior captain for both as well as the team MVP in lacrosse his senior year. After high school, he went on to spend a year at the storied Onondaga Community College winning an NJCAA National Championship and being named an All American. Sam then spent the following 3 years at the University at Albany playing defense and LSM.

During his time at Albany Sam played in over 40 career games and covered some of the best players in the country playing against teams like Syracuse, Cornell, Maryland, Yale, and many more. In his final season Coach Sam had career highs by picking up 28 ground balls and recording 10 CTOs.

After coaching over the course of the past 6 years, Coach Sam joined 3d GA in May of 2024 and is now the Director of Lacrosse at Blessed Trinity. Previously spending a season as their defensive coordinator and one year at Mount Paran Christian School. Sam also serves as the Director of the Mud Dawgs box lacrosse program.

Matt Shaffer

Matt Shaffer is originally from Natick, MA and grew up playing lacrosse and hockey in the Greater Boston area. Coach Shaffer spent 4 years as a goalie at Tabor Academy in Marion, MA.

After high school Coach Shaffer went on to the University of Vermont from the 2019-2023 Seasons. During his time at UVM Matt was a part of the first conference championships in program history in 2021 and 2022. In Coach Shaffer’s 2023 season he ranked 7th national in save percentage and GAA. Over the course of that season he was named Conference Defensive Player of the week 4 times and was named Second Team All-Conference.

Starting his coaching career in high school working with Goalies and youth programs, Coach Shaffer joined 3d Georgia as a full-time manager in May of 2025 and is currently the Defensive Coordinator at Blessed Trinity. Coach Shaffer’s previous coaching includes being the head goalie coach for the Top Gun Fighting Clams, Top Gun Littlenecks, Primetime Penguins, and with the Goalie Workshop.

Luke Brasch

From Alpharetta, GA, Luke is a bit of a local legend for his one year of Junior Varsity lacrosse for Alpharetta High School, where he finished with 1 career goal. Luke would then go on to study Sports Administration and Business at Louisiana State University, joining the 3d Georgia team in February 2025. Luke has over 5 years of operational experience in the sports world, ranging from golf, baseball, basketball, football, and now lacrosse.

In addition to his role with 3d Georgia, he also serves as the Sports Operations Manager for the Northeast Region of 3STEP Sports.

Greg is from Dacula, Georgia where he has built his videography business from a young age. He started freelancing for 3D Georgia in 2021 as a sophomore in high school. Greg joins this season as Head of Content.
