Coach Ryder enters his 5th year with 3d Lacrosse, as National Director of Camps and Director of 3d Florida. Mike joined 3d in 2015 as Director of Colorado Operations. In 2018, Coach Ryder returned to Tampa, FL to spearhead the launch of 3d Florida.
While Mike was the Director of 3d Colorado, he also helped coach the Kent Denver Sun-Devils to back to back Colorado State Semi-Final and Finals appearances in 2017 and 2018. Now as Director of 3d Florida, Mike serves as Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach at Berkeley Preparatory School.
Prior to 3d, Coach Ryder spent 2 year at IMG Academy, where he served double duty as both Head Coach of the FHSAA Varsity team and as Offensive Coordinator of the National team which ended the 2015 season ranked #6 nationally by USA Today. Under Mike’s direction, the Varsity team finished 2015 with a record of 16-1 and the National team’s offense averaged 15.5 goals per game. Mike was instrumental in facilitating the college recruitment process for IMG student athletes and their families which resulted in the commitment and/or placement student athletes at various NCAA lacrosse programs.
Prior to IMG Academy, Mike served as Defensive Coordinator at The University of Tampa (NCAA Division II) from 2011-2013 under Head Coach Rory Whipple. In their 2012 inaugural season, the Spartans were crowned regular season Deep South Conference Champions, a title they repeated in 2013. Under Mike’s defensive direction, the Spartans ended the 2012 campaign with the 9th ranked defense in all of Division II. Mike also coordinated recruiting efforts for the program including attending various national recruiting events.
Mike previously spent time in Colorado where held the position as Head Coach for the University of Colorado Men’s Lacrosse program (MCLA Division I). After taking over the program midseason in 2010, Mike led the team to a 16-9 overall record in just under two years, which included two MCLA championship tournament appearances and 12 wins over MCLA top 25 programs, including a victory over # 1 Michigan, ending the Wolverines 49 game winning streak.
Over the years Mike has been Director/Coach for various select team and camp organizations including CrosseFire, Tampa Bay Fire, Buffalo Elite, Whipple Lacrosse and 24 Lacrosse. Mike also brings experience on the Girl’s side of the game as he was Head Varsity Girl’s Lacrosse Coach a Wicomico High School in Salisbury, MD in 2008.
Mike obtained his Master’s Degree in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University in 2016 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education/History from Salisbury University in 2008. Mike is originally from Port Washington, New York where he was a 2004 graduate of Schreiber High School.
