3d New England South Summer Shooting Clinic

3d New England South Summer Shooting Clinic

Program Overview

To be a great scorer and a great shooter takes much more than just practice, it requires you to practice the right way to become an elite shooter. Come find out what it takes to shoot and score with our 3d NE South Staff and current college players at the NE South Summer Shooting Clinic.

This two-part clinic will focus on a variety of shooting and finishing techniques to take your offensive players' scoring abilities to the next level. Training will incorporate a variety of shooting drills gleaned from years of experience in the college, MLL and NLL ranks and each player will see hundreds of reps. Coaches will reinforce shooting fundamentals each session then add on different core shooting techniques. Players will walk away with a better understanding of how to score consistently with confidence.

There is a “right way” and a wrong way to shoot.  For a glimpse of the “right way” take a look at the clip of Ryan Brown in the recent 2018 World Games.  Ryan is considering by many one of the best pure shooters in lacrosse today.

Seth Jacoby and John Cunningham from 3d NE South.  Coach Jacoby has been running high school clinics & camps across the country for thousands of players and Coach Cunningham was a four year player at Conn College and at the Midfield.  Combined they have hundreds of hours focusing on shooting and coaching shooting techniques, and have collaborated with top college and professional coaches as well as college and professional players to find the BEST shooting drills for developing the proper fundamental techniques.

Current college players– Chris Connelly (UMASS) & Ronan Jacoby (Wesleyan). Chris, a Glastonbury native and former CT Cardinals (now LC CT River) player, just completed his freshman year at UMASS where he was the CAA Rookie of the Year after leading the conference in scoring for a rookie and taking UMASS into the NCAA Tournament.   Ronan, who just finished his Freshman year at Wesleyan, is also a Glastonbury native and a former 3d Lacrosse and CT Cardinals/LC CT River Alum.  Ronan led the DIII National Champion Wesleyan team in scoring with 66 goals and was top 5 in the NESCAC Conference in goals during the regular season on his way to setting program records for most goals and points for a freshman in Wesleyan history earing him NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors. Ronan and Chris will help put our players thru these drills – many of which they work on as a regular part of their own shooting routines.

Player development is the most important and least emphasized component of lacrosse throughout the nation. Our main goal at 3d is to enhance and develop lacrosse specific skills while teaching players how to implement these skills in game situations.  Shooting is a critical part of any offensive player’s development and should be a focus at all times of the year. During our training sessions players will receive a significant number of valuable repetitions with our staff in a variety of shooting and finishing techniques.
