STX, 3d Lacrosse Join Forces to Present the STX Rising Showcase Series
BALTIMORE, Md. — STX and 3d Lacrosse have joined forces to present the STX Rising Showcase Series in a partnership that will power the evolution of 3d Lacrosse’s most impactful lacrosse training and player development opportunity and will equip players with the most advanced lacrosse gear and technology.
After five years of hosting the highly attended 3d Blue Chip developmental camps that also served as feeders to the Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp, 3d Lacrosse has partnered with STX to replace and enhance the 3d Blue Chip series with a new lineup of world class training and evaluation platforms.
Kicking off in January of 2017, the STX Rising DI East and STX Rising DI West camps will each feature 480 players across four class groups – 2018/2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. These players will train in the 3d Methodology over the course of a day and a half before spending the rest of the camp being evaluated by their instructors while competing in a series of controlled games designed to give every player a chance to execute what he’s learned.
“Partnering with STX will help us take the Rising Showcase Series to the next level,” said 3d Lacrosse CEO Greg Waldbaum. “This announcement is really just the beginning of a much larger effort to impact the game by providing the best available training and exposure opportunities. Thanks to STX, we are also going to empower more players with the best protective equipment and stick technology, which is a crucial part of this game.”
Making for an unprecedented customer experience, STX – the industry’s leading innovator in equipment and stick technology – will be putting the most advanced lacrosse products in the hands of participants at the STX Rising Showcase Series. At the January camps, every player in attendance will be using the new STX 700 men’s head, as well as STX Memory Mesh.
“We are excited to be a part of the development of The STX Rising Showcase Series,” said Ed Saunders, STX’s Director of Marketing.
“Our partners at 3d have demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to the growth and development of elite players across the country. These events will allow our brand to continue to empower the highest possible performance of the sport’s best emerging athletes, with the most technical gear in the game. We look forward to immersing ourselves in this innovative new training and evaluation platform.”
Both the Rising DI East and Rising DI West camps will be staffed by a contingent of respected high school, club and college coaches, all of whom have been trained in the 3d Methodology.
The coaching staff will work with players as they complete an intense training regimen intended to rapidly boost their IQ and skill, and then participate in a series of full-length, competitive games. All the while, members of the staff who have been designated to work as 3d Rising national evaluators will be completing performance evaluations on each player’s skill, IQ and performance.
Rising evaluators will work alongside fellow coaches and the Rising editorial staff to complete evaluations to be given to each participant and a deeper feature on player analysis to be published on 3dRising.com.
A new offering born out of the partnership, the STX Rising DI East and STX Rising DI West training camps also double as the gateway for the new summer destination event: the STX Rising DI Showcase.
The STX Rising DI Showcase will feature a concentration of the best scholastic lacrosse players in the country competing in front of a sideline full of college coaches. The event will be held at the state-of-the-art DE Turf Sports Complex in Kent County, Delaware.
Players who attend the STX Rising DI Showcase will be outfitted in a full assemblage of custom STX Rising gear, including gloves, handle, and more. The event will feature guest appearances by STX athletes, a clinic, a face-off competition for the participants and shooting speed and accuracy competitions.
The new features of the series will bolster a platform that has become an important stepping-stone for many players across the country who created their first highlight reels from their 3d Blue Chip performance.
“For the last five years, 3d Lacrosse’s network of coaches has been helping the top up-and-coming players begin to put their skill development first and get on a track to playing college lacrosse,” said 3d Lacrosse’s National Club Director Matt Rowley.
“We’ve seen nearly 2,000 lacrosse players come through this program and advance with the skills 3d Lacrosse coaches have taught them. There are entire college rosters made up of alumni from the 3d Blue Chip camps, and the network of coaches who have taught in our system is far reaching at all levels of the sport. The STX Rising Showcase Series is going to build on that success and help even more players hit the ground running when they begin planning their lacrosse futures.”
Rowley founded 3d Rising in 2012 while working at the 3d Blue Chip camps, creating an online resource for player analysis and it has since grown into a leading source of high school lacrosse coverage information and has forged a partnership with USA Today High School Sports.
Leveraging 3d Lacrosse’s media extension, the 3d Rising platform will augment the series by providing in-depth analysis and exposure for players participating in the STX Rising Showcase Series events, which also includes the Rising DIII Summer and Fall Showcases.
“3d Rising gives us the chance to raise the quality of the coverage and analysis going on in the game by putting respected coaches alongside experienced editors, and the end result is going to be better and more valuable feedback for all of the players attending the STX Rising Showcase Series,” Rowley said.
“We are looking to greatly enhance the quality of the coverage of the series and in doing so raise the bar for how the nation’s players are compared to their peers.”
STX Rising DI East will be held January 6th to 8th at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Florida. STX Rising DI West takes place January 20th to 22nd at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Arizona.
Spots at each of the camps are limited due to capacity limitations and early enrollments.
