SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Coquitlam Adanacs, a highly regarded field lacrosse program out of British Columbia, were one of three champions crowned this past weekend at the College Bound Series Arizona, a team tournament hosted by 3d Lacrosse and IMG Academy.

Teams from all over the West Coast, the Midwest and even Canada descended upon the Scottsdale Sports Complex just outside of Phoenix Saturday morning, kicking off a two-day team-style tournament.

It was the second installment of the College Bounds Series, a tournament series being co-hosted by 3d Lacrosse and Florida-based IMG Academy, which has become a household name in lacrosse in recent seasons.

“We’re thrilled to be able to pull off the second event in this series and to feature another great collection of talented teams,” said 3d Events Director Sara Munro.

“Just like in the fall at CBS Delaware, we were able to attract a unique mix of teams that coaches don’t always get to see at lacrosse events or tournaments. The atmosphere and the super competitive games, as well as some up-and-coming teams made this a pretty special tournament.”

Headlining in the victors Sunday were the Coquitlam Adanacs, a team of rising standout hybrid lacrosse players who ran away with the 2020 division and finished the day at 5-0. In the championship game, Coquitlam battled past 3d Colorado by a score of 7-3.

3d Lacrosse teams celebrated wins in the top two brackets. The 2017/2018 division saw 3d San Diego earn a 7-3 win over 3d Oregon to hoist the trophy. In the 2019 division, 3d Oregon defeated 3d San Diego in an 8-7 thriller, including a braveheart finish and packed sidelines.

Friday, leading up to the tournament, 3d Lacrosse coaches hosted a skills clinic featuring coaches from the college ranks and players from competing teams and the local area.

“We are trying to make sure that each of our events has more to offer than just the tournament itself,” Munro said. “Our skills clinics are well received and we’re making sure that each one is better, involving more college coaches along the way.”
